There are always two sides on the coin, the bad and the good. What role do the media play if I may ask in your life? Does is it always affect you positively or negatively? How will life be without media? By answering those questions you may really wonder how life without will be, quite unbearable haah. In 2008 most guys know that media played one major role in propelling ethnic tension but who so far graded this year’s media role. I would say it ensured one peaceful election and transition despite (which was quite a breather) some hullabaloo of here and there. I guess they learned from their past mistakes. This goes as the Standard Media winning an International award for launching a Peace initiative early this year. So with all badness that comes with media I would say if life is much better having media. Just the other day Nairobi governor acted on K24’s expose’ on how Nairobians are harassed and beaten in the night by the Kanjo officers. So apart from entertainment, information, notification and not forgeting the educativeness its all about us we are the real media we digest and create those stories so without us where will the media be. The media is the direct mirror of the community at large, all the stories they run all comes from us then back to us. With rapid rate the media is growing means we to are growing and our hunger information fuels the media to be at par with our requirements and remain relevant.
I for sure appreciate the role of the media, it’s critical and with the freedom it comes with it then it one good time to be a Kenyan privileged with the media’s role.
