You got to marvel and appreciate technology. Even though it took time for all this kind of techies to actually come to light and be accepted it was only the other day PHONES were invented. But best part for me in all this is getting a Kenyan product invented in our soil get accolades and be accepted in the world no need to mention Mpesa cause everything has already been written about it, Lol. With other apps that are build and still are coming through, it is quite fascinating to find that there quite a lot of apps that could make your life easier. From ones that help manage your money, health care, schedules…. And for fun there are games, music, videos. Did I mention online shopping, yeah that too is possible from your phone, with all these powerful technologies just available in your pocket. It is more than just looking cool having a smart phone.

Going Pink for October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month)

An abundance of online breast cancer information from popularity of smartphones, paired with the growing prominence of social media world, has given breast cancer awareness digital presence that extends beyond medical terminology.

The digital penetration can potentially ease the uncertainty of a breast cancer. This is definitely a push in the effort for the activist.

With many risk factors that can increase your chance of developing breast cancer. It is about time we give breast cancer a boot, let’s take our ladies test for breast cancer, be it our mothers, daughters, girlfriends, wives and not forgetting men too and learn more about this silent killer disease.

UWEZO FUNDS

The Uwezo Fund is a youth and women’s fund. This has its origination in the pledge of His Excellency the President made to allocate the Kshs. 6 billion that was meant for the presidential run-off to youth and women groups.

Objectives of Uwezo fund:

1.To expand access to finance through grants and credit to promote youth and women businesses and enterprises at the constituency level, thereby enhancing economic growth towards the realization of the goals of Vision 2030;

2.To generate gainful self-employment for Kenyan youth and women;

3.To model an alternative framework in funding community driven development.

How to Apply

1.       Sign up for Capacity building programme

2.       Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria
3.       Fill in application form  ( available at the Constituency Uwezo Fund Management Committee office and on the Uwezo Fund website)

2.       Submit the application form together with relevant document to the Uwezo Fund Management Committee within your constituency

3.       Await notifications of the Uwezo Fund Management committee

REQUIREMENTS

As youth, woman and person with disability you are required to do the following to enable you access to these opportunities and to compete for procurement opportunities within a category:

1.Form a group and register an enterprise with the Registrar of Companies’ Offices in Nairobi or anywhere else wherever they are located. You may do so as a sole trader, partnership, limited company, association, etc.

2.Get clearance from the Youth Enterprise Fund if you are youth; Women Gender Directorate if a woman; and, certification from National Council for Persons with Disability if you are a person with disability.

3.Register the enterprise with the National Treasury in Nairobi or any County Treasury office. PPOA shall publish the names of all registered groups in the PPOA website (www.ppoa.go.ke).

4.Visit any public entity of the National or County Governments anywhere in the country to seek for procurement opportunities. Public entities may advertise procurement opportunities in their
